In the high range the folds flip between thick and thin; the stretch isn't stable yet.
In One Sentence
In the high range (mean F0 above roughly 400Hz) with pitch roughly steady, fold thickness (H1-H2) swings back and forth within about a second — the stretch (the force that thins the folds) isn't stable yet.
How to Read It
Watch the Fold Balance chart in the high range. If the thickness needle keeps swinging instead of settling, that's the hint.
Why Does This Happen?
| Cause | Description |
|---|---|
| Uncoordinated thinning | Thick and thin alternate; high notes flicker between easy and effortful |
| Doubting the pitch | Uncertainty about the note makes the fold state waver |
| Fatigue | The stretch tires and can't hold a steady thin |
