Insufficient Thinning

薄度不够

The vocal folds don't thin out in time when singing high notes, leaving the voice stuck in a "thick" state.

In a Nutshell

The vocal folds don't thin out in time when singing high notes, leaving the voice stuck in a "thick" state.

How to Identify

When singing high notes, observe the TA/CT Balance chart and check whether the slider naturally moves to the right. If the slider stays stuck on the left (thick side), thinning is insufficient.

Why Does This Happen?

CauseDescription
No passaggio transitionFailed to "thin out" when moving from low to high notes
Habitual vocal fold forcingAlways "pushing" to reach high notes
Insufficient breath supportNot enough airflow to facilitate vocal fold thinning

How to Improve

  • Humming exercises: Hum "mmm~" and feel the vocal folds naturally thin on high notes
  • Lip trills: Make a "brrr" sound, gliding from low to high
  • Octave glides: Glide smoothly within an octave, focusing on the thinning sensation
