Register Break

声区断层

Vocal Science Principle

Register break — a sudden drop in vocal fold thickness during the thinning process, causing a quality discontinuity.

Detection criteria:

  • H1-H2 variance over the last 10 frames exceeds threshold (default > 20)
  • At least 80% of recent frames must be voiced (to exclude onset/offset transitions)
  • Minimum volume threshold must be met (low volume causes unreliable H1-H2 measurements)
  • High H1-H2 variance indicates the TA/CT muscle coordination is insufficient, causing an abrupt shift in vocal register rather than a smooth transition.
