The Three Balances: A Simple Framework for Great Singing

Why "Balance"?

Good singing isn't about maximizing any single quality — it's about balance. Too much of anything becomes a problem: too much cord closure sounds strained, too little sounds breathy; too much compression sounds harsh, too little sounds dull.

Balance 1: Vocal Weight (Cord Thickness)

This is about how thick or thin your vocal cords are during singing. It determines the "weight" of your voice.

    How They Work Together

    These three balances are interconnected. Improving one often helps the others:

  • Better cord closure (Balance 1) naturally improves airflow efficiency (Balance 3)
